It was late winter, 2020. Erzsebet Strausz was in New York, and things were getting worrisome.

Covid-19 had arrived, putting the city in lockdown and snarling travel. A Department of International Relations alumna (IR ’08) and assistant professor, Strausz had her hands full trying to advise and keep safe a dozen CEU students studying at the Bard Globalization and International Affairs Program.

Alumna Tóth Shortlisted for ARS DOCENDI Prize

CEU Alumna Erzsébet Fanni Tóth (SOCL ’08, Slovakia) a lecturer at Vienna’s Sigmund Freud University, was recently shortlisted for the esteemed ARS DOCENDI prize this year for her course “Scientific research projects I and II”.

Named among the top three (out of 155) in category, the course utilizes ‘design thinking’, which encompasses self-identification and obstacle awareness, among other aspects, to help students produce outstanding academic theses.

Alumna Vineetha Yellmelli Passes

We are saddened to report the passing of CEU alumna Vineetha Yellimelli (BUSI’17, India) due to Covid-19. She was 40 years old.  

A former software engineer, Vineetha worked as a Senior Business Manager for tech company Greatfour Systems in her native Hyderabad, India. Earlier this year she moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

Alumna Pakalkaite Named Wattsight Analysis Head

CEU alumna Vija M. Pakalkaite (ECON '12, SPP '17 PhD, Lithuania), was recently named head of continental analysis and Berlin office manager for European energy analytics company Wattsight!
