CEU Alumna Nkonge to Lead Katiba Institute

Alumnus Atakishiyev Passes

We are saddened to report the recent passing of CEU alumnus Aydin Atakishiyev (ECON ’06, Azerbaijan) after a long illness. He was 38 years old.

A veteran of the Azeri banking sector, Aydin was formerly a member of the Executive Board of PASHA Bank OJSC. He also worked as freelance trainer and consultant.

Well-known to his fellow alumni from Azerbaijan, Aydin will be missed. Our most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and classmates.

Rooftop Party Kicks Off Summer at CEU

More than 150 students and alumni packed the CEU rooftop for a fun, pre-graduation end-of-year chillout party on Friday, June 21. Attendees – many fresh from thesis defence – enjoyed drinks, live music, quiz and quality time with friends and classmates on the year’s first night of summer. SEE PHOTOS.

Pakistan, Waqas Shabir (SPP '18)

Waqas is CEU’s alumni chapter leader in Lahore, Pakistan. He is currently engaged in the health and education sector reforms in Pakistan.

Waqas graduated with a master’s degree in public policy from School of Public Policy (SPP) in 2018. During his time at CEU, he was actively involved in co-curricular activities. He represented SPP at the CEU Student Union and headed the Career Services Committee. In addition, he also won the NASPAA-Batten Student Simulation Competition in Europe in 2018. 

CEU Alumnus Popescu Moldovan Foreign Minister

CEU alumnus Nicu Popescu (IR MA '03, PhD '09) was recently appointed Foreign Minister of the Republic of Moldova. He has since commented extensively on the constitutional crisis in that country. See interview.
