Large turnout for Slovak alumni reunion

Approximately 30 persons attended last month’s reunion of the Slovak chapter of CEU Alumni & Friends. 

The group, a combination of older and younger alums as well as current students, met on December 19 at a Bratislava brewery. Event organizers described the turnout as "record breaking." It was a great opportunity for friends and former classmates to reconnect. 

“We stayed and talked a lot,” said chapter leader Elena Bianchi. “Maybe because we haven’t seen each other for a couple of months.” 

Belarusian alumni chapter celebrates 10 years

The Belarusian chapter of CEU Alumni & Friends celebrated its tenth anniversary during a December 27th reunion in Minsk.

Held at a local café, the meeting was opened by chapter leader Siarhei Salei, who spoke of the chapter’s history and activities. Special guest was Kananovich Uladzimir (MEDS ’96), who shared his experience of being one of CEU’s Belarusian first students. The group also welcomed its newest member, Katerina Shelkovich.

"Save a Student" campaign aids finals-stressed students

As part of their "Save a Student" campaign, CEU Alumni Scholarship Recipients (ASRs) are distributing hundreds of care packages to fellow students grappling with finals and the accompanying anxiety. These "Exam Survival Kits" contain snacks like fresh fruit and muesli bars - and the implicit support of CEU alumni and friends.

CEU Alumni and Friends Meet in London

More than 50 CEU alumni and friends joined us for last Friday’s reunion in London. It was a great opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues and to share in the connection afforded us by being part of the CEU community.

Macedonian Ambassador, CEU Alumnus Angelov Donates Books to Library

Macedonian Ambassador to Hungary and CEU alumnus Darko Angelov (IRES ’04) donated 130 books to the CEU library during a visit last earlier this month.

Mr. Angelov made the donation during a courtesy call to CEU’s Chief Librarian Maria Szlatky on Thursday, October 4.

The books included an entire series of classic Macedonian literature, translated into English. All will be available for loan to library users.

Panda Stojanovska, a Budapest-based lector of the Macedonian language, attended the October 4 event, as did a number of CEU students from Macedonia.
