Memorial fund established at CEU in honor of alumna Erica Lane-Tamuza (LEGS 2003), who tragically passed away in June 2012

We are deeply saddened to announce the tragic and untimely passing of CEU alumna Erica Lane-Tamuza (USA, LEGS 2003), wife of fellow alumnus Kristaps Tamuzs (Latvia, LEGS 2003), on June 1, 2012 in the Hague, Netherlands. 

Erica was a beloved spouse, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a graduate of CEU's Legal Studies program, as well as The Ellis School of Georgetown University and The University of Pittsburgh Law School. Until her untimely passing, she worked as a legal officer with the United Nations Special Tribunal for Lebanon, based in The Hague.

In 2011, CEU's Alumni Relations & Career Services and Development offices worked together with CEU alumnus, recipient of CEU's 20th Anniversary Alumni Hero Award, Bruce Lasky (USA, LEGS '03), and Bridges Across Borders South East Asia: Community Legal Education Initiative (BABSEA CLE) to establish a new award program for Legal Masters Human Rights Program graduates of CEU. 

Tatiana Kliatskova (Belarus, ECON '13) Becomes First Recipient of the Alumni-funded Vitali Silitski Scholarship

In 2011, fifteen alumni representing the CEU Alumni Chapter in Belarus initiated a volunteer-driven fundraising campaign which resulted in the successful establishment of the Vitali Silitski Supplementary Scholarship at CEU in memory of the late CEU alumnus and distinguished Belarusian scholar.

The scholarship in the amount of 750 USD (or more, depending on the success of the campaign) per annum is intended to be awarded to one outstanding Belarusian student of CEU every year.

Nearly 70 alumni and friends joined CEU President and Rector John Shattuck at the Hungarian Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine on May 31, 2012. Always an excellent chance for alumni to catch up and network with CEU partners and friends in the region, this reunion was a great success both socially and in terms of fundraising for student scholarships and the sustainable wellbeing of the university.

Over 40 alumni and friends joined CEU President and Rector John Shattuck at the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, Poland on May 30, 2012. This reunion was a great opportunity for alumni in the city to reconnect with old friends and network with CEU's local partners and contacts, as well as to make a lasting contribution to their Alma Mater.
