CEU Alumnus Takáts New Corvinus Rector

CEU alumnus Dr. Előd Takáts (ECON ’02, Hungary) was appointed Rector of Corvinus University of Budapest in June and is expected to begin his term on August 1. He holds degrees from CEU, the Budapest University of Economics, and Princeton. See full story.

Alumnus Renwick Named UCL Professor

CEU Alumnus Alan Renwick (POLS ’97, UK) was recently promoted to the position of Professor of Democratic Politics at University College London (UCL). Having also held posts at the Universities of Oxford and Reading, Alan is also deputy director of The Constitution Unit at UCL.

Alumna Golubeva Named Latvian Interior Minister

CEU alumna Marija Golubeva (HIST ’95) was named the Republic of Latvia’s new Minister of the Interior after a vote by the country’s parliament last month. A graduate of CEU and Cambridge University, Marija reportedly cited police reform and battling hate crimes and domestic violence as among her priorities. See full story.

To the Rescue: Alumni 'Thesis Buddies' Aid Students for Second Year

This Spring CEU students had to complete and submit their master’s theses remotely for the second year in a row. But CEU alumni were there to help: more than 70 alumni volunteered for the “thesis buddies’ program, now in its second year; 54 students and alumni were paired as buddies from April to June.
