South Africa, Debjyoti Ghosh (LEGS '11)

Debjyoti Ghosh is a human rights lawyer originally from Kolkata, India, and now based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is involved in queer rights activism and has also worked on issues of HIV/AIDS, women and children. He finished his LLM in human rights from CEU in 2011, and his SJD in 2018. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Sociology, University of Pretoria, South Africa.

USA, Rasti Nikolic (BUSI '13)

Rasti Nikolic (BUSI ’13) is from Croatia and moved to the U.S. in 2013 after graduating from the CEU. Rasti worked in profit and non-profit organizations, in the U.S. and Europe. She currently works for a wealth management company.

She likes traveling, cooking, having a glass of wine, and spending time with family and friends. On a weekly basis, she volunteers at the CNM, and co-authored and leads 2 workshops.

Romania, Stefan Cibian (IRES '12)

Stefan is a CEU alumnus graduating from IRES (2012, Ph.D.) and SPP/CPS (2006, M.A.). He is the executive director and co-founder of the Făgăraș Research Institute.

Kazakhstan, Brendan Duprey (ENVS '15)

Brendan is the founding Director of the Sustainable Kazakhstan Research Institute and Associate Professor in Sustainable Development at Narxoz University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Brendan has been working globally for over a decade on solutions driven sustainability programs and research. His work has been recognized internationally including having one of his programs selected as a best practice for the UNECE Decade on Education for Sustainable Development.

Pakistan, Waqas Shabir (SPP '18)

Waqas is CEU’s alumni chapter leader in Lahore, Pakistan. He is currently engaged in the health and education sector reforms in Pakistan.

Waqas graduated with a master’s degree in public policy from School of Public Policy (SPP) in 2018. During his time at CEU, he was actively involved in co-curricular activities. He represented SPP at the CEU Student Union and headed the Career Services Committee. In addition, he also won the NASPAA-Batten Student Simulation Competition in Europe in 2018.
