CEU Alumnus Faje Passes

CEU alumnus Dr. Florin Faje (SOCL ’08, PhD ’14) passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 15. He was 35 years old.

A professor at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work at Babes-Bolyai University, Florin suffered a stroke prior to a scheduled lecture last week. Despite emergency surgery to save his life, on the night of the 15th he suffered heart failure and died.

CEU Alumnus Galyan Passes

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of CEU alumnus Artak Galyan (POLS ’10, Armenia), who died on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 35 years old.

In addition to earning his MA, Artak was a PhD candidate and teaching assistant with the CEU Department of Political Studies, where he forged many strong friendships with classmates and faculty. His career achievements included stints as a Fieldwork Coordinator with the Institute for Political and Sociological Consulting, and as an intern with the United Nations Development Program in Pristina, Kosovo, among others.
